Inscriptions of unknown soldiers of the Roman army

Konrad Stauner, Livia Stauner

Abstract

This article presents three fragmentary inscriptions of Roman soldiers: no. 1 mentions an officer, probably a prefect of a cohort; no. 2 is the funerary inscription of a legionary tribune and no. 3 belongs to the grave of a soldier of legio II Parthica; a fourth inscription is too short to say anything about its content other than that it is funerary in character.
